10 Best WCW vs. ECW Matches

1. Shane Douglas vs. Ric Flair - Slamboree 2000

To this day, Shane Douglas maintains that he holds a grudge against Ric Flair. This all apparently stems from the early-90's, when Flair was on the booking committee for WCW. According to Douglas, Flair didn't see him as a valuable performer, and stopped him from achieving his potential in the promotion. For his part, Flair claims that this is nonsense. When Douglas would return to WCW in 1999, 'The Nature Boy' says he approached him, telling him that the entire 'feud' was nothing more than an elaborate work. Whether real or fantasy, Shane Douglas would eventually get to face Ric Flair in a match, defeating him at the Slamboree event in 2000. By this point, it was arguably too late for Douglas to gain much from the victory, wins and losses meant very little in WCW at the time, which is one reason why fans found it difficult to care about what was going on. The bout was booked as part of the ongoing 'New Blood' vs. 'Millionaire's Club' storyline dominating WCW in the Spring of 2000, but the dreams Douglas had of main eventing against his nemesis were not to be. Shane Douglas had been regarded as a crucial part of ECW for years, only departing the company for a short run with the WWF in 1995, and later in 1999 to return to WCW. For a lot of fans, this must have been a definitive case of ECW vs. WCW, playing out on a WCW Pay-Per-View. What other ECW vs. WCW matches can you recall?
