10 Best WCW vs. ECW Matches

9. Sabu vs. Alex Wright - WCW Nitro 1995

Sabu is one talent who encapsulates brilliantly what the original ECW was all about - uncompromising with his style, Sabu relied little on in-ring psychology, favouring big bumps and maddening strings of eye-catching spots to piece together his matches. Outside of ECW, and perhaps Japan, the man didn't really have a great deal of success, despite a run with WWE between 2006-2007. On the independent circuit, Sabu is treated like a big name, but it's probably fair to say that his unique, disjointed style could never hope to fit in with the paradigms of WWE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdJeT00_Kmo A similar thing could be said on WCW, where the 'death defying' star only had a handful of matches. His first appearance came on the second episode of Monday Nitro, where Sabu would defeat Alex Wright. In something not many fans had witnessed before, the man then crashed his opponent through a nearby table, forcing the referee to reverse the decision. Sabu stood out like the proverbial sore thumb in the garish, more cartoon-like and safe world of WCW.
