8. DDP vs. Sting vs. Hollywood Hogan vs. Ric Flair (Spring Stampede 1999)
In the lead-up to Spring Stampede 1999, it seemed obvious that either Hogan, Flair or Sting would walk out as WCW World Champion. DDP was the dark horse, but he was a horse worth backing, hitting Ric Flair with a Diamond Cutter and winning the belt for the first time in his career. It was a landmark moment for Page, one which crowned a memorable match. A lot of people seem to forget that there was much to enjoy in WCW, especially before the Summer of 1999 when it all seemed to start going mighty sour. 'Macho Man' Randy Savage was the Special Guest Referee in this one, only adding further intrigue as to what the outcome would be. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xa2nyu_ddp-vs-sting-vs-ric-flair-vs-hollyw_sport As noted in an earlier entry, DDP wouldn't hold the belt for all that long before it was taken away from him, losing and regaining the title with alarming regularity, but it was a sign of how far the man had come, winning his first World Title in his 40's.
