10 Best Worked Shoots In WWE History
8. John Cena Makes It Personal
The John Cena vs. Dwayne Johnson feud of 2011-13 was littered with jibes, cheap shots, and personal digs. Across all mediums - be it on WWE TV, printed news, or digitally via Twitter - the two men traded shots like never before. All of which made the feud infinitely more personal.
The feud reached boiling point in 2012 prior to their "Once in a Lifetime" bout at WrestleMania XXVIII. Usually appearing on alternating weeks, the time eventually came for John Cena and The Rock to share the same ring on 27 February and Cena took full advantage of that fact.
Cena called Rock out over what he saw as a formulaic promo style and even pointed out to the world that Johnson had his promo notes penned on his wrist. It was a low blow in front of the world and crossed the line of a traditional wrestling storytelling.
When Cena left the ring, The Rock seemed visibly and uncharacteristically PO'd at what had transpired; it was clear that Cena had managed to rattle the always cool resolve of 'The Great One'. The shots continued to fire in the aftermath, making their showdown at WrestleMania one of the most highly anticipated main events of all time.
