10 Best Worked Shoots In WWE History
5. Bret Hart Snaps
When The Undertaker cost Bret Hart the WWF Championship just one week before WrestleMania 13, 'The Hitman's' frustrations reached boiling point soon after. Unjustly slighted and snubbed, a PO'd Canadian hero remained in the ring after the bout had concluded.
To add another layer of realism to the whole scenario, the ring crew had already begun taking the cage down around Bret, leaving a partially deconstructed cage when Vince McMahon attempted to interview 'The Hitman'.
McMahon's presence incited a volatile response from Bret, who shoved his boss to the ground as he snatched the mic out of Vince's hand. Profanity laden and angry, the tirade that followed showcased a side of Hart rarely seen and the string of four letter words made for shocking TV.
Bret's words sounded like a man genuinely frustrated with his job, which - given the background of the whole HBK scenario at the time - was easy to believe. The rant eventually degenerated into a typical wrestling brawl, but the promo itself was revolutionary at the time.
Vince would have the ultimate rebuttal several months later, when he delivered a worked shoot of his own (with far more emphasis on the shoot than the work). The infamous "Bret Screwed Bret" speech in November marked the birth of the Mr McMahon character and turned the tide for the WWF.
