4. Paul Heyman Takes It To The Extreme
When Paul Heyman and Vince McMahon shared a ring on 15 November 2001, the crowd were fully expecting fireworks from the dueling microphone masters ahead of Survivor Series. What they got was a one-sided, truth-laden tirade from the mouth of 'The Extreme Advocate'.
Heyman began by calling Vince out over his use and abuse of ex-talent - namely Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, and Shawn Michaels - and pinpointed how McMahon had profited from their sacrifice, only to drop them callously for the next flavour of the month - a valid argument that is hard to defend even now.
The ECW kingpin got eternally more personal when he name dropped the chairman's father - a subject that Vince is notoriously emotional about - and relentlessly went off on how Vince Jr. had betrayed his father's wishes in the '80s. Heyman even called McMahon out over his role in the death of the territories, including his own beloved ECW.
'The Mad Scientist' rounded off his diatribe by voicing his disdain for McMahon's decision to rebrand the entire industry as "sports entertainment" and laid blame for the fact that "wrestling" has become a dirty word squarely at the feet of the owner.
All lofty claims with plenty of truth behind them, made all the more impactful by McMahon's silence.
