10 Best World Title Matches In WWE Royal Rumble History
1. Triple H Vs. Cactus Jack (2000)
The Royal Rumble 2000 pay-per-view is widely considered one of the best Pay-Per-Views WWE have ever put on. Aside from the Rumble itself, the one match that everyone remembers from this classic show was the absolute masterpiece that The Game and Mrs Foley's Baby Boy put on inside Madison Square Garden.
The build to this match is one of the best in WWE history. Foley was fired from his position as WWF commissioner by the evil McMahon-Helmsley Regime, a villainous group headed up by Stephanie McMahon and newly-crowned WWF Champion, Triple H.
After protests from the other WWF wrestlers, Foley was brought back to the company and demanded that he face Triple H for the title at Royal Rumble. To get the job done, Foley revealed that his old Mankind persona was dead and, in its place, was Foley's old WCW persona - the violent, deranged madman, Cactus Jack.
Jack and The Game put each other through absolute hell in this Street Fight. Without giving too much away (you really need to watch it), the two paraded around The Garden delivering sickening move after sickening move, including one spot where Jack gave Triple H a piledriver through a table on the entrance ramp. And, because this is a Mick Foley match, of course there were thumbtacks to spare.
A fantastic story, a fantastic match, a fantastic show; there can be no doubt in anyone's mind that this match is by far and away the greatest world title contest the Royal Rumble pay-per-view has ever seen. Good luck Finn and Brock.
