10 Best World Title Matches In WWE Royal Rumble History
6. Randy Orton Vs. Jeff Hardy (2008)
Whilst you might be sick to death of these two fighting on SmackDown Live, back in 2008, this was a hot feud.
Jeff, who was also Intercontinental Champion at the time, scored a pinfall victory over Orton on an episode of Raw leading up to the Rumble. Over the following weeks, the two proceeded to wage war against one other, capped off with a spectacular thirty foot dive from Hardy onto Orton off the Raw set. Once a Hardy, always a Hardy.
The match itself was fast-paced, high-energy and highly-intense, as both men played their parts to perfection. Orton was his sadistic best, whilst Hardy had the full support of the WWE crowd.
The match ended with one of the finest examples of an RKO "'outta nowhere", when Orton reversed Hardy's Twist of Fate to hit his finishing move and win the match. Although Hardy didn't walk away with the title, he cemented himself as a bona fide main eventer.
A well-told story assisted by two fantastic in-ring workers, Hardy vs. Orton from Rumble '08 is nothing short of a modern classic.
Also, this is the pay-per-view where Mike Adamle called Jeff Hardy "Jeff Harvey" by mistake and that will never not be funny.
