In June of 1999, The Undertaker was WWE World Champion, but that was okay - Steve Austin was WWE's CEO (don't ask). At the King of the Ring Pay-Per-View, Austin was forced to put his share of the company on the line against Vince and Shane McMahon in a winner-take-all handicap ladder match.

The McMahons won, thanks to an as-yet-unidentified mystery man who raised the suspended briefcase when Austin tried to grab it, but the very next evening on Raw, "Stone Cold" had a surprise. Prior to his tenure as CEO ending, he gave himself a title shot, and that would come later in the show. To nobody's surprise, Austin beat The Undertaker to once again become WWE World Champion.

What really made the Austin-Undertaker match notable was that it was the most-watched wrestling segment in the history of cable TV. Nitro (which had a Kevin Nash-David Flair main event) went off the air early, meaning that all of the fans who regularly watched WCW could flip to Raw's overrun without fear of missing anything. That meant that almost 11 million people saw the bout - by contrast, the Universal Title match on Raw this week will be lucky to get 3.5 million viewers.
