The ending of WrestleMania 19 could almost have been the biggest calamity in the history of such main events. Brock Lesnar's horrendously botched shooting star press could easily have resulted in a broken neck and an aborted finish, drawing the most important show of the year to a disastrous close. Luckily for the WWE (and Brock himself), Lesnar proved his freakish tough-guy credentials by powering through and scooping up Kurt Angle for the match-winning F5. It capped a fantastic show on the whole, complimenting earlier bouts such as Jericho vs Michaels, Hogan vs McMahon, and the final Rock vs Austin showdown without being overshadowed at all. The match was supposed to kickstart the Lesnar era in earnest, leading to a sustained run at the forefront of the new generation (a group of OVW graduates including Cena, Batista and Orton). Little did everybody know that Brock would be calling time upon his first stint in the WWE, leaving exactly one year later following a stinker with Goldberg at WrestleMania 20.
