His prolonged run as Stardust would eventually lead to Cody Rhodes’ WWE release, but through all the bad booking that plagued the latter years of Rhodes’ WWE run, his run-ins with Stephen Amell provided a fun distraction.

Stardust was a character based on the idea that Rhodes had lost himself within his stargazing gimmick, and after splitting with his brother Goldust, Stardust became a fully-fledged supervillain. Stephen Amell, star of DC Comics’ Arrow series, was sitting at ringside, where he was confronted by Stardust, believing Amell to be the Green Arrow himself.

Stardust renamed his finisher 'The Queen’s Crossbow' after Oliver Queen, the real name of Amell’s Arrow character, and the feud blew-up on social media. As the duo exchanged barbs on Facebook and Twitter, Stardust engaged in a rivalry with Neville, before laying hands on Amell when he’d been invited to WWE television as a guest star.

Aligning with Wade Barrett, Stardust took-on Amell and Neville at SummerSlam 2015, but the good guys prevailed. That wasn’t the end of the rivalry, though. Stardust stoked the fire at the 2015 Slammy Awards by stealing Amell’s trophy for celebrity moment of the year, and continued trolling the Arrow star right up until his WWE release.
