At the time of writing, UFC Featherweight Champion and known motormouth Conor McGregor has spent the best part of a week trolling WWE superstars through the media. The controversy started when McGregor was asked if he’d like to emulate Brock Lesnar’s crossover WWE/UFC success, to which he answered:-

“I’ve thought about WWE. For the most part, I think these guys are p*ssies, to be honest. They’re messed-up p*ssies if you ask me. Fair play to Brock; he got in and fought, but at the end of the day, he was juiced up to the eyeballs. How can I respect that?”

The WWE roster responded in-kind, with a series of outraged wrestlers aiming furious Tweets at the UFC star.

Conor continued to stoke the fire by saying he’d “slap the head off your entire roster.” Whether or not this is a work remains to be seen, but it was amusing to see so many wrestlers respond negatively to one of their own tactics. Making over-the-top, outlandish quotes to promote fights is the name of the game in WWE, and McGregor has been employing similar methods throughout his UFC run.

Perhaps this will parlay into an eventual WWE appearance for McGregor, or maybe it’s just made him public enemy number one in the pro-wrestling business. Either way, Conor succeeded in drawing a lot of attention from WWE fans just over a week away from his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz.
