Kane and former MLB All-Star Pete Rose have indulged in one of the more light-hearted and entertaining wrestler vs. celebrity rivalries over the years. From 1998 to 2000, Rose appeared at WrestleMania annually, and served as a special guest ring announcer in Kane’s match with The Undertaker at ‘Mania XIV. After insulting the event’s hometown baseball team, Rose ate a Tombstone Piledriver from Kane, but was shown plotting his revenge in the build-up to next year’s event.

Dressed in a chicken costume, Rose tried to attack Kane before his schedule match with Triple H, but the plot failed and Rose tasted another Tombstone Piledriver. He returned for a third occasion the following year, and guess what happened? Pete Rose got dropped on his head.

The one-sided rivalry continued thereafter. In 2002, Rose appeared in a Halloween-themed commercial for WWE’s No Mercy PPV, and took a chokeslam from the Big Red Machine in the process. He was a guest host on a 2010 edition of Raw, and when he arrived at the building, the very first thing he did was set Kane up in a match with Shawn Michaels. You can probably guess what happened next…

Rose was inducted into the celebrity wing of WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2004, and his last televised mention came in 2012. During an anger management segment, Kane told his therapist that “for reasons never quite explained, I have an unhealthy obsession with torturing Pete Rose.”
