10 Best Wrestler Vs. Celebrity Feuds Of All-Time
5. Mike Tyson Vs. DX
“Iron” Mike Tyson has appeared on WWE on a number of occasions, and it started at the 1998 Royal Rumble. Having watched Shawn Michaels retain his WWE Championship from a director’s box, Tyson was announced as the special guest referee for Michaels’ defence against Rumble-winner Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania.
With Tyson in the ring, Austin stormed out to flip the boxer his middle finger, then challenge Mike to a fight. Tyson’s role was later changed from guest referee to ring enforcer, and the fighter appeared on a March episode of Raw to hype the match. After a brief fracas with Michaels, Tyson’s shirt was ripped to reveal a DX logo below, his allegiances laid bare.
With Mike Tyson in his opponent’s corner, the odds were stacked against Stone Cold. Austin took great offence to McMahon calling Tyson “The Baddest Man on the Planet” in the lead-up to the match, but things turned around quickly at ‘Mania. Austin appeared to have Michaels pinned with a Stone Cold Stunner, but referee Mike Chioda had already been knocked-out. In came Tyson, who made a quick three count and revealed a brand new Austin 3:16 shirt.
Tyson had turned on DX, and when Michaels stood-up to confront him, he was met with a quick punch that floored him immediately. Triple H and Shawn Michaels later argued over the double-cross, with Hunter lambasting Michaels for not being able to see it coming, but that wasn’t the last WWE fans saw of Tyson.
Tyson appeared to reignite the feud in a 2010 episode of Raw. Seemingly aligning with Chris Jericho against the new DX, Tyson once again pulled a double-cross, and turned on Jericho to knock him out. His DX allegiance was re-established, and the feud was over.
