10 Best Wrestlers In NJPW (Right Now)

5. Kazuchika Okada

Kenny Omega Wins IWGP Heavyweight Championship
NJPW

Okada's definitely in a weird state right now. When he was champion, he was a Japanese Ric Flair: a well-dressed, golden-haired champ who carried himself as such. Now he's dyed his hair red, assaulting Rocky Romero with balloons, and putting a lot of comedy in his matches.

It's understandable he would go through this identity crisis, as Okada's practically naked without the world title belt. Through his four championship reigns comprising over four years and 25 combined defenses, Okada has established himself as the greatest world champion this century. With every big title defense, his legacy as a once-in-a-lifetime wrestling talent has grown. Against an array of styles and movesets, Okada has been able to adapt and make each of his opponents look like a million bucks in the process. With legendary programs with both Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kenny Omega, Okada has helped turn New Japan into the legit #2 promotion in the world, racking up multiple 5+ star encounters in the process.

Right now, Okada's current goofball routine is likely a welcome reprieve for him after years of carrying the company. But I'm sure once the time comes again for him to wear the IWGP Heavyweight Championship around his waist, he'll be the Rainmaker once more like he hadn't skipped a beat.
