Just a few years ago, Dustin Runnels seemed washed-up. His 2007-2008 run in TNA was disastrous, his Black Reign character was an embarrassing knock-off of Goldust and his in-ring work was uninspired at best.

Somehow, eight years later he seems to have gone 20 years back in time. When he re-emerged in 2013 as part of The Brotherhood storyline, Goldust looked like a new man. He was in great shape, was years past kicking all his addictions and he looked motivated.

Along with his brother Cody, the two were putting on great tag team matches with The Shield. Unfortunately, the duo was broken up too soon, and Goldust has been undervalued ever since. With his ability and mic skills, he could still be used as an upper mid-card act as a singles wrestler. WWE would rather have him mess around with R-Truth and Scooby Doo.

Don’t put any of the blame on him, though, he’s just doing what he’s asked. It’s just too bad the company doesn't have more in mind for the talented 47-year-old.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
