10 Best Wrestlers In The World Today Over 40

7. Matt Hardy (41)

Matt Hardy The Final Deletion
Impact Wrestling

Matt Hardy has had a crazy career.

Very few wrestlers have ever successfully re-branded themselves as many times as he has. He could easily still be doing what he was doing in 1998, and fans would likely still be eating it up. But for him, wrestling is an art, and he wants to stay ahead of the times.

Unfortunately, all those brutal ladder matches earlier in his career seem to have done their damage. While he’s far from being a bad wrestler, he no longer has the speed or athletic ability that initially made him a star. However, he’s never been smarter as a worker. He doesn’t need to do high spots anymore, as he remains over with the audience no matter what he does.

Right now, Matt is one of the most interesting characters in all of wrestling. You would have never imagined he’d be “Broken” in his early 40s, so you can only imagine what he’s going to be doing a few years from now.

Hopefully he’ll still be around, and hopefully whatever it is he’s created will be just as entertaining as what he's done the past few years.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
