Whilst big brother Jay is one of only three men to win the ROH World Championship on more than one occasion (Austin Aries and Adam Cole) Mark Briscoe is yet to come within a sniff of the biggest prize in the company he has been with since the very beginning. Mark was involved with the very first show but was unable to perform because of Pennsylvania's child labour laws, but Chicken was soon an important part of the promotion.

Mark has spent the overwhelming majority of his career working in the tag team ranks with his brother, but over the past 15 years he has had four singles opportunities at the biggest prize in the company. Kevin Steen, Adam Cole, Samoa Joe and Jay Briscoe have stood in his way, and all four have remained standing when the bell rang to end the bout.

Mark doesn't quite have the singles cache that brother Jay does but this isn't to say a future world title run is out of the question. For now Mark Briscoe remains the longest serving member of the ROH roster to never win the top belt in the promotion.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
