7. Jimmy Rave

Another Jimmy who many believe deserved a run as ROH World Champion, Jimmy Rave was one of the most important parts of the Ring of Honor's early days. Rave had classic feuds with CM Punk and AJ Styles and for a while he was clearly the most hated man on the entire ROH roster, gaining such intense heel heat that throwing toilet paper was banned at ROH events after an altercation with fans.

There are many reasons why Rave was unsuccessful in winning the ROH World Championship however. One is that when Rave and The Embassy parted ways the horse had already bolted and by that point the ROH audience were unwilling to fully accept Rave as a major heel. A losing streak didn't help matters either.

Rave was also hurt by Samoa Joe's death grip on the title between 2003 and 2004. Joe was the champion but Rave was arguably the biggest heel on the roster and a singles match for the championship never came. Injuries led to an addiction to pain medication that also worked against The Crown Jewel of The Embassy, but for a while Jimmy Rave was the number one heel in Ring of Honor and would have been a great champion.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
