10 Best Wrestlers Who Were Trained At The Hart Dungeon

3. Owen Hart

WWE.comWWE.comOwen Hart was the youngest of Stu and Helen's children, going on to become arguably the finest in-ring wrestler of his generation. Working with a smoothness that was ahead of its time, Owen was a versatile technical wrestler. Who knows how young he would have been when Stu first took him down the dungeon? He could have been training down in the basement when still a child. It's well documented that Stu was a tough disciplinarian, bordering on a mean streak. Bret Hart notes in his autobiography that Stu would throw the Hart children down the stairs if they stepped out of line. You might call it child abuse nowadays, but Bret seen it as toughening up. These sort of experiences might explain why Owen was working hard style matches in Britain in the early 80's, at the same time as starring for Stampede. Owen then got signed by the WWF in 1988, where he would remain for much of the next decade. His matches were always some of the most entertaining on the WWF cards, his WrestleMania 10 match against brother Bret in particular. A further match with Bret at SummerSlam 1994 inside a steel cage received Dave Meltzer's 5 star Wrestling Observer Award. He was a hell of a wrestler. Sadly Owen died in May 1999. He had been due to descend from the Kemper Arena rafters on a rope harness, only to disengage from his safety vest while 70 feet in the air.
