10 Best Wrestling Matches In Non-Wrestling Movies

4. The Fabulous Freebirds Vs. Greg Gagne, Jim Brunzell & The Tonga Kid - Highlander

Highlander is probably most famous for two things: the Queen song "Who Wants To Live Forever", and the abysmal sequel it spawned. Something that will please the wrestling fans among us though is the match that opens the film, featuring one of the most innovative tag teams in history, taking place in the vaunted halls of Madison Square Garden.

The match, filmed with a new filming technique simulating helicopter motions, was fought between the Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy & Buddy Rogers) and the tandem of the son of AWA founder Greg Gagne, Jumping Jim Brunzell of Killer Bees fame, and the Tonga Kid, one half of WWF's Islanders.

Being that the ring consisted of actual wrestlers rather than actors, this is far and away the best match on this list with the 80s legends tearing the house down with precise choreography, spliced with war flashbacks from our immortal hero, Connor MacLeod. The filmmakers basically took a match from the NWA southern territories and decided that it would be a great parallel to the endless battles of the protagonist's long history, and the result speaks for itself.

The winners of the match are sadly not revealed as Connor is ambushed in the stadium parking lot, kicking the story off in earnest.
