10 Best Wrestling Matches Of The Week (July 18)

In the weekly analysis of the best wrestling matches from WWE, NXT, Lucha Underground, Ring of Honor, and TNA, there is bound to be an off week. This might be the first off week in the pro-wrestling world in the short history of this article.

Don't get me wrong, there still was plenty of amazing matches, including that triple threat match on Raw for the chance to face John Cena. Another great bout was the main event NXT Women's Championship on Wednesday night. Both of these matches have charted high on the list of the ten best this week, but if it wasn't for a recent PPV replay match from TNA there might not have been ten truly good matches in the past seven days. That's bound to happen.

This is a rare week where there were no special events from WWE and no Pay-Per-Views from any other companies. The weekly shows were the sole considerations and many are prepping for their next big shows.

Looking at the coming weeks there is plenty to look forward to. WWE Battleground is this weekend, Ring of Honor has an iPPV next weekend, and Lucha Underground's Ultima Lucha in just a few weeks. Good wrestling fills the horizon.

But even so, it takes a couple of entries for the ten best matches of the week to go from good to great. Don't worry, the top two especially are phenomenal...

I'm only really including this match from TNA Slammiversary to highlight that this was a down weak in wrestling. Normally there's a plethora of fantastic bouts from all of these companies but finding a tenth was a struggle.

Oddly, the whole Hernandez debacle forced TNA to air a shortened verseion of the James Storm/Magnus match from Slammiversary. This was a pretty good brawl that rounds out this list well even though it is a rerun for many.

Magnus dove off of the top rope through an empty table for one of the sick bumps of this match. Another was when James Storm found himself Superplexed through a guardrail that was propped up on chairs in the middle of the ring.

Ultimately, a couple of busted bottle of alcoholic beverages were smashed onto both guys' skulls at the same time to end the match. Storm fell onto Magnus, giving him the win.
