When CM Punk cut his infamous "Pipe Bomb" promo in June of 2011, he changed his career forever. Suddenly becoming the hottest act in the sport, Punk was launched into a WWE Championship feud with John Cena, and would receive his shot at the Money in the Bank PPV.

That show would be held in Punk's hometown of Chicago, and "The Straight-Edge Superstar" promised that since his contract was expiring, if he won the belt, he'd leave the company with it. This excellent bit of storytelling made the match absolutely must-see, with Cena representing the company's business-as-usual approach by default and Punk representing the fans who felt that wrestling wasn't as fun as it used to be. Needless to say, Punk was a massive babyface.

When it came time for the match in Chicago, the crowd was rabid like never before. Cena and Punk put on one of the best contests in WWE history, but chairman Vince McMahon couldn't rely on Cena to save his company's title. McMahon and John Laurinaitis came down to the ring, but inadvertently distracted Cena, helping Punk pick up the win. After that, the new champion absconded with his belt and left McMahon a frothing mess.
