When CM Punk successfully remoulded how WWE viewed him in 2011, he must've kept notes and passed that knowledge onto Daniel Bryan a few years later. Bryan was once the blueprint for a wrestler Vince McMahon wouldn't be interested in pushing. He's physically small compared to past behemoth champs, and he couldn't be further from cartoon character come to life if he tried.

The people didn't care. Screw Pepsi, he was their choice of a new generation.

The journey Bryan embarked on between SummerSlam 2013-WrestleMania XXX was incredible to watch in action. WWE slyly hinted that Bryan would never be more than a "B+ Player" at best, then seemed to believe that for real before the audience forced their hand. By the time 'Mania came around, fans wanted Dan to be the man, and they wanted it bad.

They'd get their wish, and it was glorious. As confetti rained down on new WWE Champ Bryan in New Orleans, a sense of relief washed over the wrestling masses. WWE, a company more inclined to push its own agenda, had listened.
