10 Best Wrestling Tag Team Names Ever

4. Minnesota Wrecking Crew

No, not the Canadian sketch-comedy group, but the tag team name used by various members of the fictional Anderson wrestling family. Originally used by Gene and Lars Anderson in the 1960s, the name was made famous by Gene and Ole Anderson in the 1970s, as they won NWA tag gold on eight separate occasions.

The next evolution of the team would see Ole Anderson team up with Arn Anderson, and it was as the Wrecking Crew that the team joined the Four Horsemen. The name would be honoured in OVW in 2001, as Shelton Benjamin and Brock Lesnar came together to form the Minnesota Stretching Crew.

Much like the Miracle Violence Connection, there is something intangibly cool about this name. It gives the impression of a no-nonsense duo who are there to wreck shop, get paid and head on to the next town. There is something delightfully territorial about it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
