7. Who Is The Black Scorpion?

In August of 1990, a figure from Sting's past returned, tormenting the Stinger for months before his identity was finally revealed. The masked man, known as The Black Scorpion, would appear in the crowd, taunt Sting from afar, and even evaded punishment by appearing two places at once.

(These are all tricks we would see employed years later by Sting himself and others, including La Luchadora on Smackdown Live last year.)

One of the classic examples of a storyline that got away from the bookers, this one was hampered by real-life obstacles. Originally, Ole Anderson was supposed to be The Black Scorpion, but broke his arm during training.

Other names were floated for The Black Scorpion, like Al Perez, Randy Colley (aka Moondog Rex), and "Wild" Bill Irwin, but by the time the big reveal arrived at Starrcade, The Powers That Be went back to the tried and true WCW standby: Ric Flair (albeit with a haircut).

Although it wasn't a wow of a reveal, at least the Black Scorpion story managed to stumble across the finish line.
