One year after taking charge of the main event to give an unfair advantage to The Rock, Shane McMahon dons the stripes once again in a WWF Championship featuring Rocky. The only difference in 2000 was that the man he was behind was facing Dwayne, in the shape of his brother-in-law Triple H.

Despite a couple of spotty matches Backlash 2000 is one of the best non-Big Four PPVs of all time, and the main event is arguably the best match of the night. The year is 2000 so overbooking dominates all, but this is one of the examples were throwing too many spanners into the works actually helped the match.

What this should have been was the WrestleMania main event. Announce tables get got before the interference begins, with Vince McMahon and his stooges putting the boots to Rocky in an attempt to guarantee victory for Mr. Helmsley.

They didn't reckon on a returning Stone Cold Steve Austin however, who the crowd goes absolutely batsh*it for. Jim Ross puts in a perfect performance along with it, and even the dastardly Stephanie McMahon gets her comeuppance in the face of a pie-face from her mother.

Rock retains, the crowd goes happy. Ridiculous, but so much fun.
