10 Best WWE Debuts Of The 2010s
4. The Nexus
If this was a list of "promising debuts that led to crushing disappointments", then The Nexus would be a shoe-in for number one.
Before it was Triple H's personal toybox, NXT was a reality show, not that different from Tough Enough. Eight wannabe WWE superstars began the process until only one was left standing.
The winner of the show's inaugural season was Wade Barrett and many assumed he would go onto have a similarly unremarkable career to previous WWE reality show winners as Maven or Nidia. Not this time.
On a June 2010 episode of Raw, Barrett led the rest of the NXT competitors in a brutal attack on WWE Champion, John Cena. Barrett and his cronies - who included Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, and Daniel Bryan - laid waste to Cena, as well as the entire ringside area. They destroyed the ring, attacked the commentary team, and even beat up Justin Roberts. That's a line you don't cross.
The Nexus lost a lot of their momentum very quickly after a string of bad booking decisions, but nothing could erase the impact of their incredible debut.
No group in the history of WWE has made a bigger impact upon its debut on the main roster. It's just a shame that WWE decided John Cena was a bigger priority than building seven new stars.
