10 Best WWE Debuts Of The 2010s
3. Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens clearly studied at The Nexus school of picking John Cena as your first feud.
Kevin Owens, the former Kevin Steen on the independent scene, has always been in the limelight in WWE. He won the NXT Championship less than two months into his time with the promotion and just three months after that, he exploded onto the main roster.
One of John Cena's United States Open Challenges was answered by Owens' mortal enemy, Sami Zayn. Zayn was unsuccessful in capturing the title, but he put on an amazing match. This riled up KO like nobody's business.
The next week on Raw, it was Owens who answered the open challenge, the NXT Championship over his shoulder. After a tense war of words with Cena, Owens attacked him, dropping the 16x world champion with a pop-up powerbomb. If that wasn't enough, Owens held the NXT Championship up and stomped on the US title.
Owens would go onto defeat Cena in his first main roster match. Putting him in a feud with the biggest star in the WWE showed that the company had huge faith in Owens and really legitimised the NXT Championship and the entire show in the eyes of the fans.
Not to mention the fact that Owens has won the Intercontinental, US, and Universal Championship since he laid out Cena.
