9. Ashley Massaro

Diva Search: 2005 (Winner)

Ashley Massaro was the clear favorite in the 2005 Diva Search because she is an absolutely gorgeous woman that is athletic and was not afraid to show a lot of skin too. Her positive attitude helped a lot too. It wasn't a surprise when she went on to win it.

WWE felt the need to push the winners fairly quickly since they were on TV a lot and the fans were already used to them. In Ashley's case, she seemed ready to be on camera due to her personality, but they put her in the ring way too soon. She looked sloppy in the ring more often then not. The first major story she was a part of involved Vince's Devils (Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle and Victoria) bullying her, which led to Trish Stratus coming to her aid and also the debut of Mickie James. It just didn't look natural to see her in the ring. At one point she broke her leg too, so that really slowed her down.

The biggest push she received led to a match against Melina at WrestleMania 23 in 2007, which she lost. It was one of the worst matches on that show and is generally considered a mistake on WWE's part to put Ashley in a match like that. She also was in a tag match at WrestleMania 24, which she also lost. It was hard to get behind a diva that was always losing matches like that.

Ashley was in WWE for about three years and left to take care of her daughter, but it seemed like there was more to the story. In addition to her WWE career, she also appeared nude in Playboy magazine and participated in the show Survivor although she didn't do that well at it.
