10 Best WWE Divas Hired Thanks To The Diva Search

4. Layla

Diva Search: 2006 (Winner)

Layla is one of the longest tenured female employees in WWE history after she won the 2006 Diva Search. It's hard to believe that she's been in WWE for nearly a decade, but it's true.

It took her a while to really get going once she made it on the main roster. After a run as an Extreme Expose dancer (a WWE excuse to put three hot women together as dancers) and managing William Regal, they finally found something interesting for her to do when she formed the Laycool heel team with Michelle McCool in 2009.

There was a natural chemistry between Layla and Michelle. Even though they came from different backgrounds with Layla as a shorter British woman and Michelle as the taller All-American girl, it just worked. They got a lot of promo time to develop their snobby characters. From late 2009 through the end of the team in 2011 (when Layla retired McCool) they were the focus of the divas division especially on Smackdown.

Layla won the Women's Title and the Divas Title once. Even though she's still active in WWE, it's unlikely that she will ever be pushed for the Divas Title again. Injuries have slowed her down and at 38 years old in a few months, she's the oldest current diva on the roster.

Just because she's been in WWE longer than any other Diva Search winner does not make her the best. A lot of her career was spent doing very little, much like she currently is. There were a few years where she was a credible wrestler with a push, though. She should be applauded for putting in a decade's worth of work for WWE because plenty of her peers had much shorter careers.
