7. A Future WWE: The FCW Story

Shawn Michaels Bret Hart
WWE

In a documentary you never knew you needed, The FCW Story is a fantastic recent addition to the Network library. Covering the operation of former WWE developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling, it reveals the inner-workings of the training process, as well as a small peek behind the business side of things.

Documenting the beginning of the company, Steve ’Skinner’ Keirn shares details of FCW’s low budget and do-it-yourself ethic. There are humorous anecdotes of practice taking place in a batting cage, with many photos and videos of current stars while they were still cutting their teeth.

While FCW was only in operation for a few years, much of WWE’s top talent owe their careers to the company. In the closing of the documentary, it is clear that FCW has a special place in the hearts of wrestlers such as Seth Rollins, Big E, and Charlotte Flair, making it somewhat like today’s generation of ECW.
