10 Best WWE Documentaries

6. The Rise And Fall Of ECW

Shawn Michaels Bret Hart
WWE

The Rise and Fall of ECW was WWE’s first great documentary. Originally released in 2004, this feature-length look at the nineties counterculture wrestling brand did so well commercially, it led to two successful standalone ECW pay-per-views, and a relaunch of the land of extreme.

Containing an ongoing narrative from Paul Heyman, this presentation covers infamous moments such as Shane Douglas throwing the NWA World Championship on the ground, the feud between Taz and Sabu, and the creative freedom essential for legendary wrestlers including Steve Austin, Eddie Guerrero, and Mick Foley.

Concluding with the company’s loss of a TV deal, Heyman’s inability to pay talent and his surprise appearance on RAW, the Rise and Fall of ECW does what it sets out to do sincerely.

Featuring classic clips from the company, and talking heads from those pivotal in its rise, The Rise and Fall of ECW is WWE’s greatest documentary.
