Okay, so this one didn’t technically occur within the Elimination Chamber, but it happened in the seconds immediately after an Elimination Chamber match, and its historic significance is colossal.

With John Cena celebrating his WWE title retention at New Year’s Revolution 2006, Mr. McMahon made his way to the stage to utter those immortal words “this individual is cashing in his Money in the Bank privilege that he earned at WrestleMania”.

Since there had never been a Money in the Bank cash-in prior to this moment, few had been aware that the contract’s “anytime, anywhere” clause meant exactly that.

The result was a truly ground-breaking moment, worthy of the PPV’s name, which helped set the standard for future cash-ins, and made the briefcase one of the most exciting facets of WWE programming for years to come.

Edge, of course, defeated Cena, which only added to the magnitude of the occasion. Without this absolutely game-changing moment, the Money in the Bank concept likely would never have become the phenomenon that it is to this day.
