10 Best WWE Heel Turns Of The 2010s
4. CM Punk - Raw 1000
Turning heel is good. Turing heel whilst in the middle of a record-breaking WWE Championship is better. Turning heel on The Rock? Well, what more can I say?
Dwayne Johnson had been more involved with WWE since his return to the company for WrestleMania XXVII in 2011.
The Rock was a big part of Raw 1000 in July of 2012, celebrating 1,000 episodes of WWE's flagship show. It was at this event that he announced that he would be challenging for the WWE Championship at the 2013 Royal Rumble to the joy of everyone. Well, everyone except a certain Second City Saint.
Punk had his hands full that night; he was defending the WWE Championship against John Cena. Cena, who was cashing in his Money in the Bank contract, was inches away from capturing the title, until he was attacked by Big Show, who cost him the match and the title.
The Rock intervened to save Cena from Show's assault, but it was him who ended up getting laid out. Not by The Giant, but by the WWE Champion.
Punk dropped Rock with a GTS and began a heel run that would last the rest of his championship reign. He cited WWE's dependence on older stars as a big grievance and the major reason behind his turn.
Nice to see nothing has changed in almost a decade.
