When AJ wasn't busy being socked in the salami by Shinsuke Nakamura or keeping his family safe from Samoa Joe, he was carrying the WWE Title with prestige for much of 2018. It'd be difficult to sift through AJ's year and find a bad performance, so let's look at one that may have slipped the net instead.

Enter John Cena.

As part of Cena's desperate attempts to find his WrestleMania spot, then-GM Daniel Bryan agreed to let Johnny boy become part of the upcoming Fastlane main event (for the title) on one condition: he had to beat reigning champ Styles. Just like that, the 27 February episode had a massive headliner.

It didn't disappoint either. Cena and AJ always work well together, and this was no different. The teases that Cena's 'Mania dream might die were well-executed, and AJ came across as every bit the passionate titleholder who didn't want another hungry dog snapping at his heels on pay-per-view come Fastlane.
