10 Best WWE In Your House Matches Ever

6. Bret Hart vs. Hakushi (May 14, 1995)

For the very first In Your House pay-per-view, Vince McMahon banked on the idea of Diesel headlining opposite Sycho Sid in a WWF Heavyweight Title scrap. Likely knowing that match would be far from a technical classic, he also booked Bret Hart to wrestle twice on the inaugural card. That would prove to be a very shrewd move, as it brought the quality of the show up tenfold. Later in the card, Hart would face Jerry 'The King' Lawler in a short loss designed to set up their 'Kiss My Foot' meeting at the following month's King Of The Ring event. That wasn't Bret's best performance of the night however, he gelled very well with the body-painted Japanese grappler Hakushi in the opener. The quality of the match even seemed to take McMahon on commentary by surprise. There was only one result fans wanted, a Bret Hart victory, but Hakushi looked wonderful. His daring dives and original moves (for the time) came across brilliantly. He looked like a real threat to the 'Hitman', and it was pretty clear that both were enjoying working one another. The first In Your House was an experiment by the WWF, but the opening match was one of the best all year.
