10 Best WWE Matches Ever To Take Place In The UK
4. Randy Savage Vs. The Ultimate Warrior - SummerSlam 1992
This one often gets glossed over because of how awesome the 'Retirement Match' between the pair was eighteen months prior, but it's a damn good match in its own right. It had a great story going into, it, with Ric Flair playing both men against each other by convincing them that the other had been bought off by Mr. Perfect.
Neither men entered into the arena with Perfect by their side and the two men gave each other a distrustful handshake. Once the formalities were out of the way, it was down to business and the crowd was incredibly hot for both men, duelling chants being heard for both (no, that is not a 2010s phenomenon).
The two traded the advantage in their usual, elaborately-choreographed manner (Savage preferred to work this way while Warrior really needed to). After the requisite trading of big moves and nearfalls Flair and Perfect came out - but who were they aligned with?
First Perfect hampered Savage and then he tried to cost Warrior the contest. It was clear that neither man was aligned with Hennig and Flair and, once he clocked on, Macho Man made a beeline for the Nature Boy. Unfortunately, that would be his downfall as he was rocked with a chair shot and counted out.
Warrior recovered from his assault and managed to help Randy clean house and they did the whole male bonding thing afterwards, much to the crowd's delight. Rumour has it that Warrior was supposed to turn heel and win the title here but got cold feet and the booking was changed.
A major heel turn and title switch might have tipped this one over the edge but, as it is, it's a worth sequel to their 'Mania VII classic.
