Okay, it's The Rock versus Steve Austin so it's automatically around ***1/2 (if you wanna get smarky about it). The Texas Rattlesnake and the Brahma Bull clashed at Rebellion 2001 right at the tail end of the Invasion and, while it doesn't have the historical importance of their WrestleMania show-closers, it's still a hell of match.

Similar to their other epics, this was a wild, loose brawl that was carried thanks to the high intensity of both men and a rabid crowd. Austin was just at his vicious best here, beating down Rocky and using everything in his vicinity to inflict punishment on the People's Champ, such as the announce table and a TV cable.

Rock, ever the spirited babyface, continued to fight back (and even unleashed the Water Spit of Doom at one point), kicking out of everything Austin had to offer and offering his own right hands as a receipt. Naturally, the ref was bumped and the shenanigans began.

Angle and Jericho - who had wrestled their own corker earlier in the evening - both came out and got involved, with Angle's belt shot causing The Rock to fall victim to a Stone Cold Stunner (which Rock sold beautifully, of course).

Just a cracking brawl here and a more than worthy addition to the Rock/Austin cannon of superlative matches.
