As evidenced by the previous entry, multi-man matches are a proven way of creating excitement in WWE. The promotion really have an established formula when it comes to Survivor Series, Triple Threat, and Fatal-4-Way encounters. Much of that was thrown out of the nearest window at Extreme Rules in May, and the match was better for it.

Vying to defend the Intercontinental Title, The Miz faced Cesaro, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens for the secondary strap. There were no eliminations in this one, adding to the danger Miz faced as the defending champ. The end sequence in particular was superbly worked.

Putting over issues between warring ex-pals Owens and Zayn, the latter was pulled from the ring by KO after nailing Cesaro with his Helluva Kick. This allowed Miz to pin the Swiss star and keep hold of his championship.

Regardless of the result, this would have been considered a classic. For 18 minutes, this quartet defied the one-on-one nature these matches usually present over and over again. Instead, those involved pieced together a desperate sprint for the gold.
