Roman Reigns gets it tough from many pro wrestling fans. Some of that is deserved, although WWE's creative team and management must take the majority of fan criticism. Throughout the early part of 2016, Reigns was poorly cast as the promotion's top babyface, chasing a heel Triple H for the WWE Title.

That came to a head at WrestleMania 32 when Roman bagged the belt on WWE's largest stage. Coming out of that feud, one which hadn't really thrilled fans, Reigns needed something a little different. Enter AJ Styles, the perfect antidote to prove that Roman Reigns can be wonderful when in-ring with the right man.

Following on from a cracking match at Payback on 1 May, Styles and Reigns fought in an Extreme Rules bout at the pay-per-view of the same name on 22 May.

Headlining a second supershow of the month, the pair bettered their previous match. At one point, Reigns and AJ even battled next to the Kickoff show booth, all before Roman planted Styles with a Spear as the heel was mid-flight.

Stunning match, enhanced by the surprise return of Seth Rollins afterwards.
