Remember all those news reports that circulated online a few years ago, claiming that Vince McMahon had lost interest in the traditional Survivor Series concept? Watching this year's event makes it stunning to imagine the boss would question how viable the elimination idea is in the modern era. The main Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown battle was stunning in parts.

Key to the success of the bout was the breakneck pace: there was always something going on that grabbed attention. Whether it was Braun Strowman's dominance being tempered by a massive Shane McMahon elbow drop, or Shane himself being absolutely blasted with a Roman Reigns Spear, this was all-action.

Admittedly, the Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown match earlier in the card involving tag-teams was similarly pulsating. There's just something about the top elimination bout though. Maybe it was the bigger stars, but this battle of the brands really hit a home run.

Over 50 minutes in length, the match also had a surprising conclusion when Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt took the win for SmackDown.
