10 Best WWE Matches Of 2018 (So Far)
4. The Men's Royal Rumble Match
WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble was fun, but only the third-best over-the-top battle royal in a year when the company's traditional January pay-per-view blew all expectations out of the water.
The women's Rumble was a celebratory trek through the division's past, present, and future, but not strong enough to make our list. The men's, meanwhile, was impeccable. It deserves to be mentioned alongside the 1992 and 2001 incarnations as one of the best in the stipulation's history, so sublime were its booking and execution.
It was peppered with awesome moments. Rey Mysterio's shock return drew one of the pops of the year. With four eliminations in 57 minutes, Finn Bálor was an awesome iron man. The debuting Andrade 'Cien' Almas stuck around for 30 minutes, eliminating noted escape artist Kofi Kingston along the way. Speaking of the New Day man, his pancake-themed survival was one of his most creative yet. The "let's all kick Heath Slater" comedy routine was paid off with Sheamus' two-second elimination. The list goes on.
But the bout's biggest highlight was saved for the end, when three company men (John Cena, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton) faced off against a trio of fan favourites (Mysterio, Bálor, Shinsuke Nakamura), culminating in the audience's chosen hero triumphing over WWE's.
