WWE don’t book a lot of heel vs. heel bouts, but The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family at Elimination Chamber 2014 was close to perfection. Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns came into the match full of themselves, and desperate to prove they were WWE’s true alpha team. The Wyatts were quieter and more cerebral, meanwhile, using that cockiness to take advantage of The Shield throughout, particularly after a stormy start.

The opening stages saw The Shield attempt to destroy their opponents inside the ring and out, but it backfired. The Wyatts stayed calm, and methodically picked the opposing trio apart, crippling their momentum before it had a chance to truly build.

The Shield came back into it, with the manic Ambrose and Rollins taking The Wyatts down through a series of crazy spots. Reigns then arrived to clean up the mess with some high-impact power moves, but his partners were eventually shot down, and Roman was isolated. Harper, Wyatt, and Rowan put him away to cement their status as WWE’s most dominant group, and draw the curtain on a wild 3-on-3 brawl that had the crowd chanting “this is awesome” before the bell had even rang.
