9. Rey Mysterio Vs. Sabu (One Night Stand 2006)
Most of the matches featured on this list - at least, we presume - were short by design. Rey Mysterio versus Sabu at One Night Stand 2006, however, was brought to a premature end after both men nearly died performing a frankly ridiculous spot.
That said, the ridiculous spot in question was exactly what makes this match so memorable. Watching ECW's Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal. Death–Defying Maniac (never has his nickname been more apt) perform a DDT to Rey, on top of a table precariously perched between the apron and the guard rail is a sight you can never forget.
Even prior to that, the match had been pretty special. You got the impression that the World Heavyweight Champion, returning to one of his old stomping grounds to a decidedly mixed reaction, was determined to put on a show.
Throw in one of the least risk-averse wrestlers the industry has ever seen and innovative, high-flying wrestling was pretty much a guarantee. Botched ending or not, this one was fabulous while it lasted.
