10 Best WWE Pay-Per-View Cliffhangers

4. Undertaker's Curtain Call - WrestleMania 33

Undertaker Buried Alive

This one, coming at last year's Show of Shows, is perhaps the most drawn-out cliffhanger in WWE history, so much so that still - to this very day - we're waiting for a definitive answer on whether we have seen The Undertaker wrestle his very last match.

Another unanswered question is whether this was even intended to be a cliffhanger at all. 'Taker's actions after the final bell - removing his ring gear and leaving it on the canvas - was ambiguous in some ways, but the company scarcely referenced it in the months that followed.

Many of us tuned into Raw the next night anticipating a resolution of some kind. It was unlikely he'd get a Ric Flair-style, kayfabe-breaking send-off, sure, but you wanted confirmation that he was done and dusted (or perhaps the reverse).

In the end, we got nothing, and the worst part is that - even if he comes back next week to set up a WrestleMania encounter with John Cena - we'll probably wake up on 9 April still no clearer on whether he's actually retired or not. Until he gets the Hall of Fame nod, we can never really be sure.
