7. SummerSlam 1997
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2goca8_wwf-summerslam-1997-intro_sport The introductory video for SummerSlam 1997 is decidedly artistic, and contains one loud and clear message. The main crux of the piece revolves around the idea that life isn't fair, but exactly who said it would be in the first place? It's the perfect accompaniment for the ongoing drama surrounding Bret Hart, who had become one of the more intriguing heel characters in WWF/WWE history. In the clip, the narrator reasons that Bret has become a "fallen idol" in North America. Revered in his home country of Canada, the 'Hitman' was public enemy number one in the United States, and the video perfectly captures that idea. In addition, it also takes into account the positives and negatives surrounding Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. Hart was pursuing a historic 5th reign as WWF Heavyweight Champion. For his part, Michaels - the Special Guest Referee for the main event - was on the outside looking in at the belt. As the reigning champion, The Undertaker was playing second fiddle to the Hart vs. HBK rivalry. The intro is instantly nostalgic, and takes the viewer back to a time when the WWF was about to embark on a new dawn.
