10 Best WWE PPV Endings Ever

3. Stone Cold Shakes Hands With The Devil Himself - WrestleMania X-Seven

Whilst there are moments on this list that stick out when it comes to the Attitude Era, the finale of this event is often regarded as the end of the iconic era that many people are so familiar with. It came at WrestleMania X-Seven, as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin took on The Rock for the WWE Championship. For years, Austin and The Rock had chemistry inside the ring, which is no doubt why they are regarded as the two biggest stars of the Attitude Era. However, Austin's feud with Vince McMahon is even more memorable, with the hatred between the two well noted on several occasions. Over the entirety of the era, McMahon and Austin had got the upper hand on each other on several occasions, including McMahon's victory in the Royal Rumble of 1999 - when he eliminated Austin last to pick up the most shocking of victories. Everyone who was a WWE fan knew the heated rivalry between, which is why when McMahon handed Austin a chair to nail The Rock, the shock felt amongst the crowd was absolutely huge. Nobody expected Austin to side with his nemesis after years and years of bitter feuds. The Rock refused to be beaten though, much to the delight of the crowd in attendance, but after repetitive chair shots, he finally scored the winning pinfall and became the WWE Champion - selling his soul in the process. When looking back at defining moments in the career of Steve Austin, that night at WrestleMania X-Seven was absolutely huge. A guy who was loved by millions of wrestling fans all across the world instantly became hated - and it was a wrestling masterstroke from the guys backstage, as absolutely nobody saw it coming.
