The night Randy Orton became the youngest world champion in history has since become a night that WWE must be desperate to delete. When dealing with any Chris Benoit match one has to decide whether to think of the individual outside of their work. The actions of Chris Benoit the man make the work of Chris Benoit the professional irrelevant.

This was the end of the Benoit World Heavyweight Championship reign, and whilst in hindsight Orton wasn't quite ready for top billing there is little denying how great this match was. Orton was having a breakout year, and despite not pulling the numbers one would have hoped, Benoit was still putting in incredible performances night after night after night.

The match was Benoit at his Dynamite Kid best, throwing himself into anything and everything with the aim of making Orton look like a superstar. He succeeded, and whilst the match ended a little abruptly it did more for the RKO than people realise. The post-match handshake was a great, unexpected touch too.
