5. Seth Rollins Shockingly Returns (Extreme Rules)

Following a hard fought match between AJ Styles and Roman Reigns over the WWE World Heavyweight Title, Seth Rollins made a shocking return to reclaim the prize he never lost. The story was simple and logical, but everyone was still left surprised when Rollins sprinted out and nailed Reigns with a thumping Pedigree to end Extreme Rules.

In early-November of 2015, Rollins suffered a serious combination of knee injuries during a routine house show match against Kane in Dublin, Ireland. WWE would take the decision to strip Seth of the WWE Title, a heartbreaking moment for the workhorse champion. On the bright side, creative had a story all ready to go for his eventual return.

Before the next few weeks of television badly bungled his comeback, Rollins sparkled at Extreme Rules. Fans were legitimately delighted to see him, in no small part due to the fact that he attacked the polarising Reigns.

Things should have been better in the build to a match between the pair at Money In The Bank, but at least WWE can look back on the conclusion of Extreme Rules as a winner.
